Duet is an intelligent geofence alarm that is built to help remind you significant location aware events. e.g. wake you up ahead the stop on your daily commutes.

It's designed to be highly accurate yet prudent on energy consumption. It can monitor up to 20 locations with negligible tap to you iPhone's battery life.

Tips

  • If you have an Apple Watch paired with your iPhone, you may find the alerts sent to your watch don't have the same amount of vibrates as your phone, and sometimes even discrete alerts are combined into one. This is all because of Apple Watch's built-in battery saving behavior over which we have no control. The best way to work around is to disable the watch-side notification for Duet via the Watch app on your iPhone. Here is a screenshot for it: We'll definitely create a watch edition once the restriction gets reduced in SDK.
  • Each duet alarm can be accompanied by a preceded flag so that the alarm will only gets fired when the flag's geofence was triggered within certain period of time. By planting a preceded flag smartly, normally at the start point of your daily commute trip, you basically eliminate the annoying false alarms that you may experience in other alarm apps.
  • There is another transit type option for each SmartGPS enabled alarm. This option tells the Duet the average moving speed on route. By default it's set to train speed, which guarantees a high reliability of alarm being triggered on time. The slower moving type (e.g. Biking) consumes less battery but could result the alarm being delayed. The battery life difference might not be obvious on iPhone6+ but could be quite noticeable on an 3-year-old iPhone5.
  • In addition to various loud ringtones, the app also has a repeat-1 option that can be set to trigger a 2nd-alarm 30s after the 1st one. This will for sure get your attention if you had the aforementioned Apple Watch notification turned off.
  • The zone radius can be easily adjusted easily by moving the black-dot-handle on the circle.
